ArchiCAD 8 Helps California Design Firm Further Penetrate Commercial Real Estate Market

paastudio, a Santa Monica-based architectural studio broadened its horizons and moved onto a higher plane when it won a contract to design the new headquarters office building of the Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS).
ArchiCAD, the studio’s long-term choice of 3D CAD solution, was a key tool in enabling them to win the contract. ‘We've been an ArchiCAD house almost since inception and knew that the new features in ArchiCAD 8 would prove to be especially helpful for this particular project given the tight schedule and the scope of work,’ said Ivo Venkov, paastudio principal.

It took just 3 months for the 3-strong project team at paastudio to produce a complete set of working drawings for the 66,000 square foot office building and a three-story parking structure. By pushing ArchiCAD 8 almost to its limits, the design team was able to complete the project faster by taking advantage of the host of enhanced features in the program.

ArchiCAD Increases Documentation Productivity by 25 Percent for Phoenix, USA Building Design Firm

Design firm TRK Architecture & Facilities Management, Inc. has standardized on ArchiCAD® as its primary software for all new design projects. TRK, a 20-person firm located in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, made this decision during its work for the City of Phoenix Residential Sound Assistance Program, a long-term project that was initially produced using AutoCAD®. The firm moved the project work to Graphisoft's ArchiCAD and documented a 25 percent increase in productivity as a result.

Graphisoft’s Performance Endorsed by AEC Industry Stalwarts

In commentaries appearing on CADwire since the publication of Graphisoft’s outstanding Half Year Report, Dr. Joel Orr, Vice President and Chief Visionary of Cyon Research and Randall Newton, Editor-In-Chief, A-E-C Automation Newsletter comment very favorably on Graphisoft, its products and its strategy.

Dr Orr spells out his high opinion of Graphisoft by saying: ‘…its consistency of strategy, its continuous improvement and its outstanding implementation of object-oriented AEC design make it a solid company, with an outstanding product.’

In her article in CADENCEweb magazine, Lachmi Khemlani looks afresh at ArchiCAD 8 and awards it 4/5 in her review. Acknowledging the comprehensive toolset of features in ArchiCAD 8 and the useful enhancements added to this version, Ms. Khemlani headlines her review by declaring: ‘Justly regarded as a pioneer in the increasingly important 3D BIM arena, ArchiCAD 8 remains a strong presence, offering its users several powerful features that make the upgrade worthwhile.’
