Job Captain

Mikiten Architecture is seeking an energetic junior to mid-level architectural Job Captain. Must be very strong with ArchiCAD. Requires architecture degree and local residence for work in our office only. Minimum 3-4 years of solid work experience required. Up to 8 might be considered. As a small firm, everyone must "work up" and "work down", doing everything from marketing to CD's to dealing with clients. Position may begin as part-time with the intention of becoming full-time when needed. We are a small, dynamic architectural office in Berkeley designing award-winning affordable and market-rate multifamily housing, universal design projects, and a recent LEED-Platinum project. In addition to standard architectural responsibilities, the position also involves participating in firm marketing work with the Principal to pursue new projects, keep our website updated, and produce marketing materials, so fluency with various graphics software, including Photoshop, is very important. This is an opportunity to gain experience in all phases of project design, production, and construction observation, including client contact. RESPONSIBILITIES: - ArchiCAD drafting and design (plans, details, sections, drawing layouts, etc.) - 3D ArchiCAD modeling - Presentation drawing manipulation with various software packages - Construction administration tasks (responding to RFI’s, creating ASI’s, reviewing submittals, maintaining logs, etc.) - Product research for specific projects, with an emphasis on sustainable solutions - Direct contact with contractors, clients, product reps, etc. - Promotional graphics and advertising/outreach work for the firm, including preparing RFQ/RFP responses for new work QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum 3 strong years of applied office experience with residential architecture and ArchiCAD - A solid understanding of Construction Documents and wood frame construction - Strong visualization abilities - this is critical - Freehand/presentation drawing ability - Smart and talented - A detail-oriented and organized approach to your work - A strong sense of urgency and ability to work with deadlines - Did we mention smart and talented? - A sense of humor Important: Only local applicants need apply. ArchiCAD project-based work

Small firm in mid-Hudson Valley, NY looking for assistance on a project this fall. We are seeking an ArchiCAD professional, architecturally trained, with a minimum of five years experience. Advanced architectural construction detailing skills are a MUST, this in not a 3D or BIM assignment. Construction Drawing phase project timeline will be 8-10 weeks, starting sometime between late September and mid- October. Submit work samples, resumes, and references by email.
