System Requirements

 
This Developer Kit contains all the necessary support to develop your add-on either on Windows or Macintosh. You can develop your add-on in any language which can be linked to a static library or DLL, however, it is advised to work in C. This developer CD gives you full support to enable you to make cross platform developments.

On Macintosh you need CodeWarrior Pro7 or higher installed. Only the PowerPC architecture is supported. (Note, that ArchiCAD 8 is a Carbon application. Add-on developers must adapt the corresponding environment and rules.) You need to compile your add-ons with CW Pro 7.0 to ensure full compatibility with ArchiCAD/PlotMaker. For debugging on Mac OS X, we recommend using the latest CodeWarrior release (version 8, as of the time of writing)..

On Windows you need Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 or higher installed. Only the x86, 32 bit architecture is supported. You need to compile your add-ons with VC++ 6.0 to ensure full compatibility with ArchiCAD/PlotMaker.

Libraries and header files mainly assume that you are working with the above systems, however there are some possibilities to move your development to other environments on Windows. Refer to the Non Visual C++ Development document for more details (this feature is not working in ArchiCAD 8 R1/v1).
