Graphisoft discontinues availability of GDL Object Adapter and GDL Object Explorer

Almost a year ago, in February 2004, Graphisoft discontinued direct business development in the area of content publishing but at the same time made our content publishing technology freely available. What we hoped to achieve was a movement of smaller service companies that could best serve the needs of building product manufacturers in each local market. This would make more content available to end users. We received a lot compliments for the decision and it was our full intention to support this technology going forward on a no cost basis to the users.

Since the announcement, the reality is the number of companies using this freely available technology has been small. In fact, too few to justify the continued long term investment required to maintain and develop this technology. Still, we understand that companies have made an investment based upon our technology. Therefore, we will be providing the following going forward:

GDL Object Adapter for AutoCAD®:
The GDL Object Adapter 8 version (compatible with DWG up to 2005, and the corresponding ADT versions) is about to be released. We will be releasing an ArchiCAD 9-compatible version (to be compatible with the most up-to-date DWG) in the second half of 2005 for those who are registered users. There will be no further updating of this software.
GDL Object Explorer:
There will be no further update to GDL Object Explorer. However, the current version will be available for download until
the end of 2005.
GDL Publisher & GDL Web Control/Plug-in
We consider the Web Control/Plug-in as a component of ArchiCAD and we will continue to update them as ArchiCAD evolves. We will continue make these tools freely available on www.graphisoft.com.
