Windows Vista Compatibility

We can summarize the results so far that both ArchiCAD 9 and 10 runs on Vista if the WIBU key driver is updated to version 5.20 and the Graphisoft shell extension is excluded from the installation.

ArchiCAD 9 with Vista


Will not install

Problem: ArchiCAD will not install correctly.
Solution: Uninstall Java. Re-install java that came with ArchiCAD 9. Perform a custom install of ArchiCAD which excludes Graphisoft Shell Extensions from both the ArchiCAD and the Plotmaker install. Remove Wibu installation that ArchiCAD 9 performs. You may have to uninstall and re-install Wibu 5.2 if you have already done this.


Program Compatibility Assistant

Problem: Cannot start ArchiCAD 9 without the Program Compatibility Assistant dialog showing
Solution: None.


Warning Dialogs May Disappear

Problem: Warning dialogs display and shortly afterwards are overwritten Solution: None.


ArchiCAD 10 with Vista



Graphisoft Shell Extensions incompatible with Vista

Problem: ArchiCAD 10 enters "not responding" state during file operations such as "Save", "Save as" or "Sign-in".
Solution:Uninstall all ArchiCAD versions completely and perform a custom install of ArchiCAD leaving out Graphisoft Shell Extensions.


Dialog refresh problems with Vista Aero Color scheme

Problem: Moving dialogs will erase underlying screen objects.
Solution: Right Click on desktop choose Personalize then Window Color and Appearance, change color scheme from Windows Aero to something else such as Windows Vista Basic.


Not possible to publish to PDF

Problem: Amyuni driver for ArchiCAD is not available for Vista.
Solution: No current solution.


ArchiCAD will only run in demo mode

Problem: Wibu driver included with the install CD is not compatible with Vista.
Solution: Wibu Version 5.2 must be downloaded separately from www.wibu.com and installed.


Context menus are occasionally wrong

Problem: The first right click does not bring up the expected context menu.
Solution: Try right clicking a few times and the expected context menu will come up.
