Autosave takes much longer than usual
Written by László Nagy
We received reports about Autosave taking a lot longer than usual. When starting a Project, Autosave occurs so fast, you may not even notice that the cursor changed to the Bulldozer cursor (sign of ArchiCAD being in the process of Autosaving) for a moment. In case of larger Projects, Autosave may take 2-3 seconds. But when it takes significantly longer than that, it may be because you have many bitmaps placed on the Floor Plan. Bitmaps can take up a lot of memory, as they are stored uncompressed in memory. Resulting from this, Autosave may sustain a time penalty.
ArchiCAD 8.1 has much-improved memory management, which has a positive effect on the speed of Autosave.
But in case your Autosaves slow down, try removing unnecessary bitmaps from the Floor Plan until Autosave is back to its normal speed.
