WIBU network key is not accessible after installing Windows XP SP2
written by Gergely Kmethy, October 18, 2004
After installing the Service Pack 2 for Windows XP on the key-server machine, client machines might be unable to access the key. This is because the new built-in Firewall in Windows XP blocks the network communication with the key. To prevent this, please configure firewall settings on the key-server machine to allow communication with the key.
Note:
Please use the WIBU driver shipped with your ArchiCAD or WIBU driver downloaded from
http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archicad/downloads/WIBU.html
and server application shipped on the 'Network utilities' CD. Newer drivers and server applications may not work properly with your ArchiCAD.
Steps
- In the Control Panel, run the Windows Firewall configuration tool.
- Select the Exceptions tab
- Click the 'Add Program...' button
- In the list of available programs, select 'Network Server'. If it is not listed, click 'Browse' and locate 'WkSvW32.exe' in the 'Program Files\WIBUKEY\Server\' folder
- After you hit OK, 'Network Server' will be listed among the Exceptions
- Make sure that on the 'General' tab page the 'Don't allow exceptions' is unchecked.
Note:
As an alternative to the above procedure, you can also open communication port 22347. To do this, select the 'Add Port...' button on the 'Exceptions' tab page, and specify a name for the port 22347. Select the TCP radio button and hit OK. However, for security reasons, we recommend using the 'ADD Program' option.
