OpenGL Font Display Problems

Written by Balázs Biacs

If OpenGL in 2D is turned on, certain fonts (i.e. Lucida Console Western, Trebuchet MS Western) display the "D" character as if it hadn't a "hole".

The reason for this is that these fonts have a rather simple description that results in bad polygons at a lower detail display level.

The solution is to change the OpenGL Font Quality Setting to Precise in the Options/Preferences/2D Redraw Options dialog as in the screenshoot below:

After changing this setting and issuing a Rebuild, the fonts will display like this:

Note1: the display of the fonts still depends on the zoom level.

Note2: that this setting might slow down the navigation speed in 2D windows.

Note3: this is only a 2D display problem, it does not affect the printed output.
