Notes on using ArchiCAD 7.0 v3 on Mac OS X.2
The official release of OS X.2. [Jaguar] was on the 24th of August, 2002. According to our initial experiences ArchiCAD 7.0 runs the same way on 10.2 as it has been doing on 10.1. The following minor differences were found:
System errors fixed in OS 10.2:
- You were not able to plot using a TCP/IP address you had to use the plotters network name instead
- Large PICT files compressed as JPG could cause crash in ArchiCAD and in PlotMaker
New problems found in OS 10.2:
- Old NFNT/FONT/SFNT type bitmap fonts have the following problems:
- NFNT/FONT type bitmap fonts are displayed on screen but are not plotted (this happens on Mac OS X 10.1 as well!!)
Fonts that can not be chosen (are missing in the fonts' list) in the Native Textedit application are NFNT or FONT type bitmap fonts. - Mac OS X 10.2 only: SFNT type bitmap fonts are displayed on screen but some (random) characters are missing in the plotted output.
SFNT type bitmap fonts can be chosen in Textedit, too. But when zooming in on a text in ArchiCAD/PlotMaker the pixels that the SFNT type bitmap font is made up of can be seen clearly.
- NFNT/FONT type bitmap fonts are displayed on screen but are not plotted (this happens on Mac OS X 10.1 as well!!)
- ArchiCAD 7.0 does not allow to overwrite files of different Owners than the actual user.
Workaround: Save under a different name or change the file's owner from Finder prior to saving it.
This ArchiCAD malfunction will be fixed in the next major release of ArchiCAD.
Please read our notes on using ArchiCAD's Teamwork functionality on OS X.2. here. - Selecting fill types or changing tools' pens: all fills/pens that were 'touched' by the cursor remain displayed as selected.
This is only a display problem the actual fill/pen will be selected properly.
This is a system error that will be fixed in one of the upcoming maintenance releases of 10.2 - Opening Print Center from the 'Print...' dialog box causes problems with various tools and functions.
(This problem happens also on 10.1.)
Workaround: open Print Center from the Finder instead.
This ArchiCAD malfunction will be fixed in the next major release of ArchiCAD. - PlotMaker / ArchiCAD: the actual plan/layout window seems to stay inactive after changing colors of pens.
PlotMaker can even crash after working with the Color Picker on OS 10.2.
Workaround for PlotMaker: adjust pens' colors in Classic, then continue working on OS X.2.
Workaround for ArchiCAD: switching to another window and back solves this problem.
This ArchiCAD malfunction will be fixed in the next major release of ArchiCAD. - Special menu is always displayed regardless of its settings.

We have to emphasize though that we haven't tested ArchiCAD 7.0 on Macintosh OS X 10.2, only the next major release of ArchiCAD is planned to be fully tested on this new operating system.
