Symbol Linetypes cause crash at saving as DWG/DXF

Written by László Nagy

If your ArchiCAD 8 Project contains symbol linetypes, ArchiCAD might crash in very rare cases when trying to save as DWG/DXF file. There are 3 different ways to solve this problem:

  1. Create linetype conversion entries in the DWG/DXF Template file you are using. In the Save as DWG/DXF Dialog, select the Template file to be used, then click the 'Settings in Selected Translator' arrow. Find the Attributes\Line types\Linetype-linetype conversion part and click on the 'New' button at the bottom of the screen. In the appearing Dialog, specify the ArchiCAD linetype (or select it from the drop-down list) and type in the name of the linetype that will correspond to this linetype in AutoCAD.
  2. Eliminate the symbol linetype that is causing trouble entirely, and substitute it with some other linetype (preferably a simple, non-symbol linetype).
  3. Recreate the symbol used in the symbol linetype in such way so that it does not contain any arcs, only line segments.
This bug is fixed in ArchiCAD 8.1.
