Railings w/o Objects

Fast straight horizontal railings/fences w/o objects

Written by Balázs Biacs

You can easily draw a railing/fence of horizontal "logs" - bars that you can modify and draw just like a wall. Use the log details in the Wall Settings dialog's Model attributes Tabpage to set up the log radius to be larger than the width of the wall, and choose the center-point of logs for the center-point of the log radius. Now you can easily draw a railing/fence just like a wall except that the curved walls cannot have logs [this would be unreal for logs anyway]. Anyway, it works well with straight walls...

Hint: you might have to play around with the wall width settings and the log radius, e.g. 2" wall width with a 10" log radius makes a nice dense-woven railing or fence; the rest is up to you...

Example 1: setting Wall Height to 1100 mm, Wall Width to 50 mm and Log Height to 200 mm

Settings as in Example 1, with columns used as wooden posts

Example 2: setting Wall Height to 110 mm and Wall Width to 5 mm, with Log Height at 20 mm - you get a pipe or a duct
