Component Updates

What does "Zoom 2D In" do?

With this ArchiCAD Add-On installed, you can open a project created in Zoom as a 2D ArchiCAD drawing.

The document will contain the following drawing elements:

  • Lines

How to work with "Zoom 2D In"?

  • Choose the Open command in the File menu, select the Zoom file format from the pop-up, and open the required Zoom file. The following dialog box will appear to set up the parameters for the conversion:

The options are as follows:

  • Selecting view

By clicking one of the three radio buttons you can define the view which will be converted to be a 2D drawing.

  • Drawing Unit

In this field, you can define the distance in the Zoom project that will be translated into a drawing unit in ArchiCAD. As ArchiCAD works internally with metric data, setting the drawing unit to 1 meter (=1000 mm) will result in a 1:1 model after the conversion.

What does "Zoom 3D In" do?

With this ArchiCAD Add-On properly installed, you can open 3D models created by Zoom as ArchiCAD Library Parts.

The document you open will include the following information:

    • 3D model geometry:
        All surfaces.
        All edges

Opening a Zoom project as an ArchiCAD Library Part

  • Choose the Open Library Part command in the File menu, select the Zoom file format from the pop-up, and open the required Zoom file.
  • After clicking Open, the following dialog box will appear. Here you can configure the resulting document.

    The options are as follows:

    • Drawing Unit

In this field, you can define the distance in the Zoom project that will be translated into one ArchiCAD drawing unit. As ArchiCAD works internally with metric data, setting the drawing unit to 1 meter (=1000 mm) will result in a 1:1 model after the conversion

Notes

  • 2D symbol of the created Library Part
In previous versions of ArchiCAD before 5.0, the 2D symbol of the created Library Part was automaticaly generated by projecting the 3D model to the x-y plane. Because this algorithm typically results in very redundant information with thousands of lines, there is no automatic symbol generation any more.
Now the bounding box of the 3D model is projected to the x-y plane only. You can, however, use the 3D View->2D Symbol button within the master window of the library part to use a full or partial view of the model as its floor plan symbol.

For more information, see the "About Add-Ons" document.
