4. Production and change

The combination of effective tools and flexible, smart objects together with all the automated update functionality, make ArchiCAD a highly productive solution.

4.1. Scale-sensitive objects [00:55]

As said earlier, ArchiCAD has over 1,000 parametric library parts (building elements) out of the box. These smart, parametric objects are scale-sensitive, meaning that the representation level of an object will be adjusted automatically to the actual scale of the design.

4.2. Find and Select [00:49]

Using the Find and Select functionality of ArchiCAD, you can easily select multiple elements in your project with custom properties and attributes. You can also modify all the selected elements in one single step.

4.3. Composite structures [00:37]

ArchiCAD allows you the possibility of working with composite (multi-skin) structures, and lets you carefully define all the various parameters and settings of every skin - including fill, line-type, color and thickness. A window in a composite wall can also have an automatic cavity closure with custom properties.

4.4. Wall-end tool [00:18]

Using ArchiCAD's wall-end tool, you can easily create parametric wall-ends for composite structures.

4.5. Associative dimensioning [00:32]

ArchiCAD provides automatic and associative dimensioning with a single mouse click. The dimension values are updated automatically if the corresponding element changes.

4.6. Working with dimension chains [00:26]

ArchiCAD gives you the possibility of fine-tuning the representation of your dimension chains to meet the local municipality standards and office requirements.

4.7. Dimension preferences stored in view-sets [00:35]

ArchiCAD 9 stores all the dimension preferences beside the project views, allowing better control of design development. This helps to create more consistent documentation with fewer inconsistencies.

4.8. Linked detail drawings [01:25]

ArchiCAD's linked detail drawings enable you to develop state-of-the art detail drawings using the robust 2D tools of ArchiCAD. You can easily import and merge your previously-created 2D drawings in various CAD formats (such as DWG, DXF, DGN, etc.).

4.9. Working with iDropTM content [00:27]

ArchiCAD 9 has implemented the Autodesk® iDrop technology, so that DWG files - a manufacturer's detail drawings for instance - can now be drag-and-dropped from the Internet directly into the ArchiCAD work environment. It's as simple as if you were actually using AutoCAD®.

4.10. Creating, editing and formatting texts [00:46]

ArchiCAD 9 has a powerful built-in word processor, so now text blocks can be created and formatted using the same functions which you are accustomed to using when writing with a regular text or word processing application.

4.11. Importing text blocks from AutoCAD [00:34]

Text blocks from AutoCAD files will also retain their original formatting when imported into ArchiCAD. No need to re-edit/format textual information in order to achieve the same look as the original.

4.12. Importing text blocks from Word [00:34]

Copying and extracting formatted text blocks from external word processing applications to ArchiCAD retains the original format of the text in order to help, ease and streamline your documentation processes.

4.13. Working with fills and hatches [00:29]

In ArchiCAD 9, fills and hatches can be applied to 3D Zones and Slabs, Roofs, Meshes or Zones to be shown in Plan views or in the 3D Window, thus reducing the drafting work required and speeding up the documentation process.

4.14. Displaying zone spaces on plans [00:38]

3D Zones can be shown and presented by their category color, Fill type or Fill background and their combinations on Plan view. This gives users the chance to categorize Zones in different ways.

4.15. Working with Columns [00:45]

In ArchiCAD 9, the plan representation of Columns has been significantly improved to assist your design and documentation processes.
