Bridging the 2D and 3D Gap: Improving Communication in BIM-Driven AEC Projects – whitepaper

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has significantly changed the way we approach design and construction in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries. However, we have yet to see those industries fully unlock the benefits of BIM. That's because communication becomes fragmented, leading to costly delays, difficulties conveying design concepts, and inefficiencies that can threaten a project's success.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has significantly changed the way we approach design and construction in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries. However, we have yet to see those industries fully unlock the benefits of BIM. That’s because communication becomes fragmented, leading to costly delays, difficulties conveying design concepts, and inefficiencies that can threaten a project’s success.

That’s why effective collaboration and communication are a must.

Our industry as a whole demands deeper insight into this issue. Only when we fully address these challenges by better aligning architects, engineers, and contractors will we improve collaboration. BIM can evolve into a powerful, integrated tool that boosts project efficiency and reduces risks. Going a step further, if we can fix the connection and collaboration across AEC through a unified collaboration platform, we can save costs and ensure smoother communication among industry experts and the software solutions they use. This is what the upcoming open collaboration platform will support.

But shall we not rush to the future. Many industry experts are still working with 2D solutions.

This whitepaper is for them. It identifies common gaps in 2D and 3D workflows and offers examples of a unified BIM approach that could transform industry practices, optimize performance, and improve global project outcomes.

Thank you for your interest!

The whitepaper will be in your inbox in just a few minutes.
