Trevor Horne Architects (THA) is seeking a highly skilled Architectural Technician with a strong track record in contract administration and construction detailing to join our growing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support the production of detailed technical drawings and construction packages
Administer construction contracts, including site inspections and issuing instructions
Resolve complex construction detailing in line with current UK standards and building regulations
Collaborate closely with project architects and external consultants through all RIBA stages
Attend site meetings and coordinate contractor queries and construction progress
Minimum 5 years of experience in a UK architecture practice
Strong understanding of traditional and contemporary construction methods
Proficient in ArchiCAD
Excellent knowledge of UK Building Regulations and construction standards
Experience with JCT contract administration
Detail-focused, organised, and proactive communicator

We are looking for a talented and experienced architectural technologist to join our team to work on a variety of projects in the residential, commercial, and hi-tech sectors, with projects of a construction value up to £10m.

1. Assisting with planning applications
2. Measured building survey's
3. Obtaining quotations for consultants
4. Preparing Building Regulations packages
5. Preparing Working drawings packages
6. Carrying out site inspections
7. Attending design team meetings
8. Liaising with client bodies, statutory authorities, design teams and manufacturers
9. Co-ordinating design information
10. Reviewing and commenting on other consultants’ information
11. Ensuring compliance with Client brief and compliance documentation
12. Carrying out NBS Specifications
13. Carrying out design and health and safety risk assessments
14. Ensuring compliance with company QA procedures
• The Practice employs BIM (Building Information Modelling) on all projects. Being familiar with ArchiCAD is preferred but not essential. A willingness to learn and adopt BIM is essential. Training on ArchiCAD will be available.
• Candidates must have the ability to work across all RIBA work-stages and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of building construction and UK Building Regulations.
• You will be able to manage your own projects and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• The candidate must have a "can do" attitude and a willingness to adopt the Gary Johns office culture and vision.
• The candidate should ideally have a minimum of 5 years' experience working in an architectural practice and have experience of overseeing other team members.
• A driving licence is required due to the requirement for site visits.
