A residential summer school for Archicad users, combining learning and pleasure
Archicad University Europe ’99 (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/sbe/confer/) is
a residential summer school for Archicad users, combining learning and
pleasure. ACUE’99 builds on last year’s successful event, and brings
together Graphisoft, architects, interior designers, builders, dealers,
consultants and students for what will be a memorable occasion.
ACUE’99 will be held on the beautiful campus of the University of
Nottingham. By arranging it on a Friday and Saturday, you only lose one day
from the office, and you still have one day left of your weekend before you
are back at work.
ACUE’99 consists of 90 minute participatory workshops presented by experts
in the field. With three pannels to choose from, everybody will find
something
useful and enjoyable, even the most experienced users. Newcomers to Archicad
will have their eyes opened to techniques that they may not have dared to
tackle alone.
The workshop and activity list includes among others: Tutorial with Archicad
(for newcomers), Advanced use of Archicad, Using Archicad in 2D and
Plotting, GDL Scripting, 3D Rendering Special, Multimedia Creation and
Multimedia Presentation. There will be a Panel Discussion, “Archicad Tips,
Tricks and Wishlists”, between Tutors and Delegates – with short
presentations on special topics.
ACUE’99 includes a visit to CIMI (Centre for Industrial and Medical
Imaging), a research centre in the University offering bureau service to
architects and designers, nationwide. Archicad models can be rendered and
flown through in real time at video frame speed, viewed in a virtual reality
surrounding environment, and stored to video tape. A visit to the rapid
prototyping unit for stereolithography from CAD models is planned as well.
The ACUE’99 reception and dinner will be on the Friday night, with live
string band entertainment during the evening; also, delegates will have
access to the new swimming pool and sports facilities of the
University, including a green and pleasant campus for joggers. Delegates can
also meet representatives from Graphisoft, and surf the Worldwide Web. All
participants will get a copy of the GDL Cookbook in pdf on CD, and the
actual book will be available at reduced price during the conference.
