Strong new partners sign on in Hong Kong and Korea
International – November 10, 1999
Graphisoft® (Frankfurt Neuer Markt: GPH), developer of Archicad and the
revolutionary Virtual Building™ concept of 3D architectural design,
announced today that it has taken several important steps to capitalize on
the current sales momentum and ensure continuing success in Asia.
Since the opening of Graphisoft Hong Kong in 1996, Archicad has
progressively gained footing in Hong Kong’s architectural market. The
solid
user base prompted the Company’s decision to now entrust a strong local
partner with retail sales responsibility. As of October 1999, Powerwave
Co.
Ltd. has taken over Archicad sales and distribution activities from
Graphisoft Hong Kong.
Powerwave’s 10 years of experience in the hardware, networking services
and
software industry yielded important contacts throughout Hong Kong,
including
government offices and corporate clients. With offices in five major
Chinese cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen),
Powerwave is ideally suited to become a regional Archicad center in the
future.
To further educate the local architectural community about Archicad’s
unique
3D model based “Virtual Building” design approach, Graphisoft recently
held
a seminar at the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA). The event,
which
was very well-attended and drew HKIA members from major architectural
offices as well as government agencies, informed participants about the
current paradigm shift from a reliance on traditional 2D drafting to fully
integrated, object-oriented 3D CAD solutions like Archicad.
Based on its dedicated staff and deep understanding of the Korean
architectural market, Samkun Verycle Co. Ltd. was recently recruited as a
new Archicad distributor in Korea. Samkun Verycle has already completed
their first major sale to Samsung Housing Institute, where the initial 10
licenses of Archicad will be used to design large apartment complexes.
“I’ve been fascinated with Archicad since I first saw it nearly 10 years
ago
and closely followed its development. We are convinced Archicad will
become
the standard design tool in the near future,” said Choi Cheolho, director
of
Samkun Verycle’s CAD division.
Samkun Verycle began as the in-house architectural solution provider of
the
Samsung corporation, but has been independent since 1998. They are
currently planning a roadshow to promote the release of Archicad 6.5.
