Performance Increases, New Functionality, Improved Documentation and Archicad Integration Highlight Upgrade
Bristol – June 13, 2000 – Cymap, UK based developer of HVAC and Electrical Design
software, announced that it has begun shipping the latest version of CADLink – Version 9.0.
This major upgrade is the first since Cymap was acquired by Graphisoft in January 2000.
“Providing tools that enhance the day-to-day productivity of engineers has always been
central to our design philosophy,” said Jonn Fredericks, Managing Director of Cymap Ltd.
“CADLink 9.0 advances this approach with significant performance gains and improved
usability”.
Performance Increase CADLink 9.0 operates from three to nine times faster than the
previous version and project models can be upgraded with the integrity of the building model
maintained. Information about all services is available for viewing at any time to assist with
co-ordination.
New HVAC and Electrical Features New HVAC capabilities in CADLink 9.0 include the
ability to model single pipe heating systems, increased flexibility on radiator connections with
automated radiator reconnection, plus full analysis of regulating valves. Electrically CADLink
9.0 offers motor selection from a database of over 2000, busbar selection and 3D visualisation
of lighting layouts. A co-ordinated bill of quantities for all services can now be produced and
a significant number of component databases have been updated and added.
Improved Documentation New printed step-by-step tutorials and a new browser based help
system with enhanced search capabilities, improve the speed with which engineers can
become productive using the system.
Archicad Integration CADLink 9.0 is the first stage of a planned program to integrate
CADLink’s powerful design capabilities with those of the Graphisoft Engine. The initial
interface is directly with Archicad and offers the ability to export the 3D building model to
CADLink. In CADLink you can design the HVAC and Electrical services and then import the
resulting 3D services model back into Archicad for completion of working drawings,
sections and visualisations.
As the process is taken forward the services engineer will be able to design and interact with
the Virtual Building™ within a building in a readily accessible 3D environment. In addition,
the parametric capabilities of Graphisoft’s GDL technology are being harnessed to make the
selection of components such as radiators, valves and light fittings a simpler, faster and more
intuitive process.
“By sharing the Virtual Building model, architects, engineers and others involved in both the
design and operation of the building can cut down dramatically on the duplication of effort
and disputes that all too often result from working with conventional drafting systems,” says
Jonn Fredericks.
Cymap have specialised in producing HVAC & Electrical design software since 1979. Every
day thousands of engineers benefit from CADLink’s ability to produce efficient design for
schemes from small to large, both quickly and efficiently. More information about Cymap is
