Graphisoft Developer Partner Takes Prize of Honor in IT Competition

Lasercad’s Solution Praised for Its Application in the Internet Economy

Stockholm/Budapest, September
26, 2000 – Lasercad of Sweden,
an API developer, and
distributor of Archicad,
ArchiFM2000 and GDL technology,
was awarded the jury’s Prize of
Honor in the IT Bygg and
Fastighet (ITBoF) faceIT2000
competition. Held in Sweden, the
building industry-wide
competition rewarded the best
use of information technology in
building and facility
management.

Besting competitors including
Autodesk and also renowned
research teams, Lasercad used
Graphisoft’s GDL technology and
XML to create a solution for the
e-commerce of building products.
The intelligent objects are
searchable on the Internet and
can be integrated – as
module-based project and
facility information – in CAD
and facility management
databases.
Lasercad’s project was commended
for demonstrating the usefulness
of digital catalogs in design,
construction, sales systems,
e-catalogs and for facility
managers, while maintaining a
friendly user-interface and
high-quality visualizations.
Ines Uusmann, president of the
jury, comprising the most
respected industry professionals
and architects from Scandinavia,
stated “We are convinced that
electronic catalogs for building
products will be a crucial part
of the building industry’s IT
environment, for both product
manufacturers and building
professionals. By combining
Internet technology with the
newest modeling and XML
technology, the solution is
flexible enough to be integrated
with other applications, and can
make use of future
standards.”
“We are very proud of this great
accolade. It is proof that our
solution stands out in the field
as the optimal solution for
describing building components
in a parametric and intelligent
way,” said Stefan Larsson,
Lasercad CEO. “Product-based GDL
objects will have a dramatic
effect on the entire building
industry, as it begins to work
with 3D product models instead
of simple 2D drawings as the
communication method.”
Lasercad is the leading
IT company in Sweden in the
field of architectural design
and the building industry. With
50 employees in four Lasercad
offices in Malmö, Gothenburg,
Stockholm and Budapest, Lasercad
belongs to a privately owned
IT/investor company, Andante in
Malmö, Sweden.
