Graphisoft to Acquire Leading-Edge Building Services Design Software Company - www.cymap.com
Combined technologies will significantly broaden the relevance of the Virtual Building
Budapest - December 6, 1999
Graphisoft announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Cymap, a UK-based supplier of design software for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) and electrical building services. Graphisoft will merge Cymap's technology with its industry-leading Virtual Building concept to offer an expanded range of integrated and object-oriented architectural CAD solutions.
Cymap's comprehensive CADLink product family is currently sold and supported in the United Kingdom and abroad. CADLink delivers improved control and significant productivity gains throughout the HVAC and electrical design process, and is adapted to regional calculation standards. Cymap's current annual turnover is around 1 million Euros, which is expected to grow strongly as a result of CADLink's integration with Graphisoft's technology.
"Our customers have expressed a strong interest in such an addition to our Virtual Building technology," said Graphisoft President and CEO Gábor Bojár. "Over the last 18 months we have examined many companies in various markets and found Cymap to be the optimal choice. This acquisition guarantees that our users will get even more value out of Graphisoft products."
"With the strategic enlargement of our product portfolio we considerably strengthen our market position in Europe particularly in Germany," emphasises Johannes Reischböck, managing director Graphisoft Germany GmbH and board member Graphisoft N.V. „This is why we are extending our proven company strategy to incorporate the building services sector alongside the core architectural business."
Cymap managing director Jonn Fredericks added, "Over the next year, we will fully integrate our technology with Graphisoft's 3D model-based, building simulation concept. We are excited about working together and look forward to establishing an international presence for our products through Graphisoft's global distribution channel."
The acquisition will be formally completed on January 4, 2OOO. Cymap will continue to operate as a separate company and maintain its own R&D and support organisation.
