Powerful New Features Make Advanced Rendering a Breeze
Budapest – January 27, 2000 – Following the successful introduction of Archicad
Version 6.5, Graphisoft now launches Artlantis Render 3.5. The highlights of the
software include enhanced data import & export, improvement of material
selection, flexible shader organization as well as batch rendering. Artlantis Render
3.5’s picture quality ranks among the best in the architecture industry.
The effortless information exchange between Artlantis and Archicad – long a hallmark of the
renderer – makes it first choice among Archicad users. One of the best features of Artlantis,
the powerful preview window with drag and drop functionality, has been updated in the new
release for increased productivity. Materials can now be created, modified, organized and
deleted directly in Artlantis’ preview window. And with a new Textured option, objects in a
scene can be previewed with all their respective textures and shaders.
With a significant jump in materials options from 256 to 65,535, Artlantis 3.5 can now
accommodate Archicad models of all sizes and levels of complexity with the added flexibility
of applying unlimited polygons per material.
Artlantis version 3.5 also includes several new lighting options. The intensity of light
sources, whether they be spot, sun or light bulb, can now be adjusted and the new Heliodon
feature lets users cast shadows and perform sun studies. As in Archicad, the function can
be adjusted for geographical location, exact date and time intervals, weather conditions and
the direction of the sunlight. Sun studies can be generated in many file formats, including
PICT, TGA, BMP, JPEG and QuickTime and AVI.
With a new Batch Rendering feature, users specify a set of parameters and select one or
multiple images to be processed in one batch immediately, or at a later time.
In addition to flexibility and lighting enhancements, three new CDs filled with procedural
textures, called shaders, are being introduced. Archicad materials can be tied to Artlantis’
shaders, to avoid redundancy and can be easily applied by simply dragging and dropping
from the shader library onto the project.
The new volumes include textures to refine the appearance of walls, floors and furniture. With
Artlantis 3.5, shaders are now arranged by family, and users have the flexibility to create their
own shader folders, for example, for a particular rendered scene or project.
Windows users will be pleased to note that they can now create QuickTime animations and
panoramas, in both compressed and uncompressed formats, on the Windows platform.
