Belgian Universities Upgrade CAD Curriculum with Archicad 6.o

Budapest/Bruxelles, June 4, 1999
In an effort to make state-of-the-art CAD tools available to their students, seven reputable architectural universities and schools in Belgium expressed the need for Archicad 6.o to use in their curriculum. Graphisoft agreed to donate more than 160 copies of its award-winning, integrated architectural CAD software to the universities of Liege, Mons, Louvain-la-Neuve, Leuven, Limburg, Brussels and Ghent, bringing the number of universities and architecture schools using Archicad to nearly 430 worldwide.
The seven universities in Belgium that received Archicad 6.o are Institut d’Architecture Lambert Lombard, Liège; Institut d’Architecture de Mons; Université Catholique de Louvain la Neuve; Katholieke Universiteit Leuven ; Provinciale Hogeschool Limburg;
le C.A.D. Bruxelles; and Universiteit Gent.
Graphisoft’s Belgian distributor, Consulting Informatique/Architecture (CIA) and local partners will provide full Archicad service and support to the schools.
At the donation ceremony in the International Press Club of Bruxelles, Graphisoft’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing Gábor Kazár remarked, “As we have observed from the enthusiasm and technical mastery of the students participating in our annual Graphisoft Prize International Design Competition, architecture students are familiar with and demand cutting-edge digital technology. They recognize that Archicad offers them a competitive advantage, and Graphisoft is proud that we can provide it for them.”
A diploma design created using Archicad by Xavier Vanabelle, a graduate at the University of Mons, was also unveiled at the ceremony. Based on one of Belgian architect Victor Horta’s buildings that was never actually constructed, the design is a very detailed and high-quality model that showcases the power of Archicad’s Virtual Building.
