Budapest, October 31, 2001 – Graphisoft, developer of the pioneering 3D model-based architectural CAD solution Archicad, today announced the availability of Archicad 7.0 release 2. The update version of Archicad is the first architectural CAD software to offer native support of Apple’s revolutionary new operating system, Mac OS X.
“Archicad 7.0 release 2 closely follows the release of MacOS 10.1, to allow our users to fully leverage the next generation operating system’s increased stability and better overall performance,” reports Bence Kovacs, Graphisoft’s director of product marketing. “After conducting thorough tests, we encourage our Macintosh users to install this version of Archicad on the new platform and discover what the program gains from the new system features.”
Archicad 7.0’s new tools for workflow management, design development and construction documentation have been on the market since May, providing customers with functions to streamline communication with key project partners. In release 2, Graphisoft enhanced several new features, and corrected issues reported by its user base.
Look for these changes and more in Archicad 7, release 2:
- Support of MacOS X v. 10.1, including preemptive multi-tasking, memory protection and dynamic virtual memory allocation
- Microsoft-style help available on Windows
- Advanced DXF/DWG file exchange functionality keeps dimensions intact after importing/exporting them to/from Autodesk applications. The associative characteristics of dimensions will also remain when importing to Archicad.
- The new library preview browser can be launched from the help menu, allowing users to quickly access library part files on their system, as well as print preview pictures.
Current Archicad 7 users can obtain the software update free of charge from their Graphisoft Distributor.
