Quattrochhi Kwok Architects evaluates leading building modeling software, selects Archicad

More complete design and rendering capabilities and Graphisoft’s customer support cited as key benefits

Budapest – February 24, 2005 – Graphisoft R&D announces that Quattrocchi Kwok Architects (QKA) has selected Archicad® as its Virtual Building™ modeling solution. QKA, a mid-sized California-based firm specializing in the K-12 market, compared AutoCAD® Revit® , Bentley MicroStation® and Graphisoft’s Archicad on criteria that included customer service, collaboration and rendering features, ease-of-use and IFC compliance.

“After a very thorough evaluation process, we found that Archicad would bring the greatest benefits to our firm,” said Aaron Jobson , Project Architect at Quattrocchi Kwok Architects, who led the effort to evaluate Building Information Modeling software for the firm. “The integration of LightWorks® in Archicad is a major advantage for all rendering tasks, and the software’s TeamWork™ capabilities are far more functional than comparable tools in Revit. It was Graphisoft’s commitment to training and ongoing customer support, however, that helped finalize our decision.”
Archicad’s TeamWork concept allows teams of architects to collaborate on, communicate and share complete three-dimensional building models across a local network or intranet with ease. QKA expects to achieve increased productivity and more effective communication among design team members as a result of using this feature. Furthermore, with the LightWorks rendering engine, Archicad strengthens users’ design presentations, enabling architects to deliver more vibrant, powerful images of their work.
In addition, QKA saw Graphisoft’s support of IFC compliance as a key differentiator. “Graphisoft is ahead of the curve in comparison to its competitors with the IFC initiative,” Jobson continued. “We plan to take advantage of IFC in the future, and our software must be able to support our business goals, in addition to our design needs.”
“QKA underwent a very thorough analysis of the building modeling packages on the market before committing to purchase, and we are proud that Archicad was proven the superior application,” said Donald Henrich, General Manager and Vice President, Graphisoft US. “We look forward to building a long-term relationship with QKA as they progress with Archicad.”
