Yale University, one of the
nation’s oldest and most prestigious centers of higher learning, has
received 33 sites of Archicad 6.0 for its newly-upgraded School of
Architecture computer labs.
As part of an overall program to upgrade the CAD tools available to its
students, the School of Architecture will add 17 new personal computers
(NT and Macintosh) to its computer lab and will introduce the Archicad
6.0 sites for the first time in January 1999.
Yale School of Architecture Dean Robert Stern comments,”We look forward
to developing and expanding our computer capabilities in 1999.
Ultimately, we want students that are as adept as the computer and we
view 3D computer-aided design as one of many important tools.”
Visiting Yale Professor and Professor of Computer Programming at Southern
Connecticut State University Robert Frew, who is supervising the lab
upgrade, comments, “The students entering our Architectural programs now
are much more capable. Yale is increasing the incorporation of digital
technology into the architectural design studios with the addition of
dozens of new personal computers and 2D/3D integrated CAD software
programs including Archicad.”
“We are thrilled to be among the programs bringing the Yale School of
Architecture’s computer lab and design studios into the twenty-first
century, said Tamás Hajas, president of Graphisoft U.S. “Archicad will
be the most fully-integrated, object-based CAD program available to
students attending Yale.”
